The DZZI-CLINIC for dental implants

The DZZI-CLINIC was formed in 1991 with financial sponsorship by the DZZI GmbH as the first German hospital specialising in dental implant treatment. The reason for introducing a hospital environment into this area usually reserved for a dentists practice was the perception that the loss of dental implants usually results from a bacterial infection right after the operation. As the oral cavity with its common bacterial colonisation represents a difficult medical environment, we saw a promise in treating patients stationary after being operated. These - at their time - theoretical considerations are now, after 15 years of experience, statistically proven.

Our team of dentists at the DZZI-CLINIC has more than 30 years of experience in dental implantology. Prof. Dr. Wirthmann and his team have been pioneers of their field, they developed systems and methods of dental implantology, treated thousands of patients and educated hundreds of dentists in implantology. There is scarcely any institution in Germany that can provide similar experience and necessary equipment to treat even the most difficult cases.

The head of the clinic

Prof. Dr. Axel Wirthmann, born 1945, is one of the most profiled German implantologists. Performing dental implant treatment since 1976, he was honored in 1980 for extraordinary merits in the field of dental implantology by the German Society for Dental Implantology (DGZI). Since 1985 he has been the president of the DGZI. In the same year, Prof. Dr. Wirthmann started educating other dentists and dental technicians. More than 300 dentists have aquired their knowledge about dental implantology through education by Prof. Dr. Wirthmann. By founding the DZZI-CLINIC in 1991 and by introducing the stationary treatment of dental implant patients, Prof.Dr. Wirthmann was able to acchieve significant improvements in durability and longevity of dental implants. The alterations introduced by Prof. Dr. Wirthmann have since become a standard in all of Germany and have reduced in higher rates of success in implantological treatment. Since 2001, Dr. Wirthmann has been teaching as an Adj. Professor at the New York University, teaching about the molecular biology of the cell.

The DZZI-CLINIC, founded in 1991, provides the latest and most highly developed equipment in dental implantology, enabling the team to treat even the most difficult cases successfully. Patients afraid of dentists can be treated, treatment can be performed both with general anaesthesia and local anaesthesia - in the latter case using the computer-controlled, almost painless injection system "The Wand Injection System". The dental laboratory, located in the same building, as are the patients rooms. This creates synergy effects, minimizes the distances between the departments, thus enabling efficient and successfull work - all for the benefit of our patients.
